Itinerary

Starting this Hampta Pass Trek on the first day, you will have a jeeping or any kind of ride from Manali to Jobra at an elevation of 2,950 m (9,678 ft). This road trip takes between 1 and 2 hours and brings you to the start of the trek.

After reaching Jobra you are to start your journey through the lush green forests of the Kullu Valley popular for scenic beauty and wildlife. It passes through the splendid narrow gorged of the Beas River where one has to cross a wooden bridge over the river.

The first station for camping is at Chikka, which is reached by a gradual incline, which takes about 2-3 hours’ trek from Jobra. There is a well-defined trail, which takes you through several waterfalls and stream, making this trek more interesting.

Chikka is situated in the open grassland atop which are a number of large mountains. Here one can sit and stroll around and start gradually adapting to the altitude or weather condition if you have arrived from a different region. The campsite has some amenities put in place such as toilets for use and tents in case you prefer to spend a night in the camp..

The first day’s walk is not very demanding which will give an opportunity to savour the scenic views. Ensure you take enough water during all the period of the hike, or else take enough water with you. It is also advisable to wear comfortable trekking shoes or any other form of shoe that can enable one trek for a long time and also pack warm clothes because the nights are cold.

In the evening you will have dinner at the camp site and over night will be spent in tents in the mid of natural beautiful environment having sky full of stars. The sound of Beas River & mesmerizing view will provide a very good & peaceful night’s sleep.

Cancellation policy

We understand that planning an outdoor trip brings a lot of excitement and joy. However, we also know that cancellations can be disappointing. While Trekos rarely cancels treks due to our efficient ground operations, cancellations can happen due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, government regulations, or any other factors beyond our control. In such cases, the following cancellation policy will be applicable.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, we recommend making your booking at least two months in advance. If you do need to cancel your trek, please inform us in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive written advice.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

We have designed a cancellation policy that is fair, feasible, and convenient for all our customers. The procedure is as follows:

  • If you cancel your trek 21 or more days before the start date, we will deduct 10% towards GST and transaction charges and refund 90% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 15-20 days before the start date, we will deduct 30% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at base, ration, etc., and refund 70% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 7-14 days before the start date, we will deduct 50% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at the base, ration, trek leaders, permits, equipment, etc., and refund 50% as a trek voucher that is valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 1-6 days before the start date, we will deduct 100% as all arrangements have been made, and we are ready to take you on the trek.

  • The voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of issuance.
  • The voucher can be used for any trek with Trekos.

FAQ’s

The Hampta Pass Trek can be undertaken at all times during a year; however, the ideal time to enjoy the trekking is from mid-June to September. During this time, daytime temperature can be between 12 – 18 degrees Celsius while the night temperature drops to 2-8 degrees Celsius.

This is because, in October, the temperature drops even further, and thus not considered favorable for trekking. But June is the month preferred by the majority of adventurous souls since the topography is surrounded by snow, and thus mid-June is preferred as the apt time for a thrilling Hampta Pass Trek.

First, to head to Hampta Pass, you will have to reach the base camp at Jobra. You can drive or hire cabs from Manali to Jobra, and it is a distance of about 18 km, which will take around 2 hours. From Jobra, you would be trekking to Hampta Pass in 2 days covering 35 km through some stunning valleys and landscapes.

The total distance to the Hampta Pass Trek is estimated at about 25 km, to be covered on foot. The trek is along the following circuit: Manali – Jobra – Jwara – Balu Ka Gera – Hampta Pass – Shea Goru – Chatru – Manali. It will generally take four active days to complete. Yes, the Hampta Pass Trek is perfect for first-timers. It is one of those medium-range camping treks in the Himalayas that go up to over 4,000 m above sea level. Though this trek has much variation in topography and weather conditions, it is quite comfortable to negotiate for the amateurish and inexperienced beginner.
