Itinerary 

Your journey on the Kashmir Great Lake Trek  begins with a drive of about 90 km (56 miles) from Srinagar to Sonamarg. The journey takes about 2-3 hours, and allows you to enjoy the beauty of Srinagar known for its magnificent Dal Lake, Mughal gardens and vibrant culture as you reach Sona Marg at 2740 meters (8,990 feet) and Enjoy the tranquil “meadow of” the gold” of the Himalayas ” and the day you get to relax, pamper yourself, and experience the natural splendor of Sona Marg You can explore nearby places if attractions like the Thaziwas Glacier, or just take a walk around the city Be sure to complete your passport and pack any last-minute supplies.

On the second day, you start your journey from Sona Road to Nichnai, about 11 km (6.8 miles). The road climbs gently through dense grass scrub, pine and fir trees and dense forest, offering a bird’s eye view of the Sonamarg Valley. A few hours later you will reach the village of Shekdur, an ideal place to relax and meet the locals. The road then gets steeper as you approach Nichnai, also known as Vishansar. At an altitude of 3,600 meters (11,811 feet), Nichnai is a scenic campsite with breathtaking mountain views. Set up camp, relax, and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.

On the third day of the  Kashmir Great Lake Trek , you will continue your trek from Nichna to Vishansar lake. The hike is approximately 13 km (8 miles). After leaving Nichnai, you start climbing up Nichnai Pass, also known as Vishansar Berry. The path takes you over boulders and gradual climbs. The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys will keep you entertained throughout the trip. You will be greeted by breathtaking views of the Kashmiri Himalayas as you pass through the Nichnai Pass. Kashmir Great Lakes Trek Take some time to admire the beauty of the landscape before descending to Vishansar Lake. As you descend you will pass through beautiful meadows full of wildflowers, adding vibrant colors to the landscape. The trail offers a mixture of rocks and grass, making the hike challenging and visually rewarding. After walking for a few hours, you will finally reach the pristine Vishansar Lake. Famous for its emerald green waters and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Vishansar Lake is a place to be seen. The serene weather and the reflection of the mountains on the crystal clear waters create a breathtaking atmosphere. Camp at the lake and take some time to explore the surroundings. You can stroll around the lake, take pictures, or just relax and enjoy the serenity of the place. Keep in mind that the water of Vishansar Lake is cold, so swimming is not recommended. Camping near Vishansar Lake offers a magical experience, especially in the evening when the sun sets behind the hills, sending golden streams across the landscape  Eat a hot meal, share stories with fellow travelers, and spend a peaceful night under a starry sky. On the fourth day of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, you cross Gadsar Pass and start trekking from Vishansar Lake to Gadsar Lake. The total distance on this day is about 14 km (8.7 miles). Depart from the picturesque Vishansar Lake and start the climb to the Gadsar Pass. This route climbs steadily, and as you climb you will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Gadsar Pass at an altitude of about 4,250 meters (13,940 feet) is the highest point of the Kashmir Mahasake trek. When you reach the pass, take a moment to focus on the stunning scenery that stretches out in front of you. The pass offers a breathtaking view surrounded by high mountains and awe-inspiring wilderness. After crossing Gadsar Pass, one will start the descent to Gadsar Lake. The trail descends steeply and encounters rocks on the way down. Use caution when walking the trail and follow the instructions of your walk leader or guide. Gadsar Lake, also known as Yamsar Lake, is a beautiful alpine lake nestled in the mountains. The lake is known for its deep blue waters and is often called the “flower lake” because of the vibrant wildflowers that bloom on its shores during the summer months

Camp near Gadsar Lake and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. You can take a refreshing dip in the lake’s cool waters, although swimming is not recommended due to the freezing temperatures. Spend the evening exploring the area, taking pictures, or just relaxing and soaking up the pristine sky. It’s important to take note of the weather conditions in Gadsar Pass, and following your trek leader’s instructions on safety precautions is important The terrain can be difficult, so make sure you have the right trekking gear and keep moving run regularly throughout the day. On the fifth day of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, you will continue your journey from Gadsar Lake to Satsar Lake, a series of connecting lakes, The total distance on this day is about 14 km (8.7 miles). After passing the beautiful Gadsar Lake, you wind through meadows and cliffs. The trail has grass, rocks and occasional snow depending on the time of year. As you go further, you will come across the first of the Satsar Lakes. The lake is known for its pristine beauty and the surrounding mountains are reflected in the calm waters. The Satsar Lakes are worth a visit, each with its own unique beauty. The Satsar Lakes are an attraction for nature lovers and photographers alike, as they offer the opportunity to capture breathtaking scenery and unique views. Take time to explore the lakes, enjoy the tranquility and appreciate the wonders of nature unfolding before you.

The confluence of the Satsar Lake adds to their appeal, as rivers flow from one lake to another. On the sixth day of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek Walk, you will pass through the Nundakol Lake on the way and travel from the Satsar Lake to the two Gangabal lakes. The total distance on this day is about 13 kilometers (8 miles). After leaving the magnificent Satsar Lake, you will continue your journey through the breathtaking Kashmiri Himalayas. This route takes you through a variety of terrain, including meadows, rocks and ascents and descents. As you go further, you reach the magnificent Lake Nundkol. Nestled between mountains, Lake Nundkol reflects its turquoise waters, reflecting the surrounding mountains. Take some time to appreciate the beauty of this tranquil lake and take in the breathtaking views. After crossing the Nundkol Lake, you will make your way to the two Gangabal lakes. The trail offers views of green meadows and snow-capped mountains, making for a beautiful setting.

The two lakes of Gangabal consist of two lakes, Gangabal Lake and Nundakol Lake. This lake is known for its pristine beauty, Harmukh Mountain standing tall in the background is also surrounded by majestic mountains Enjoy the serenity of the area by camping near the two Gangabal lakes. The lakes offer a peaceful atmosphere to relax and rejuvenate in the breathtaking Himalayan landscape. On the seventh and final day of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, you will cross two Gangabal lakes to Naranag. The total distance on this day is about 14 km (8.7 miles). After leaving the tranquility of the two surrounding Gangabal lakes, you begin the descent towards Narnaga. The trail passes through dense meadows, pine forests and the occasional boulders, making for a fun and rewarding hike As you descend you will have a great view of the surrounding mountains and hills. The beauty of the Kashmiri Himalayas will keep you happy till the end of your trip. 

The route takes you through picturesque villages and terraced areas, allowing you to experience the local lifestyle, interact with the warm-hearted locals and have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and explore the people who call this no social leisure scenery their home. As you approach Naranaga, you will see the ancient ruins of Naranaga Temple, a historical site dating back to the 8th century. 

These stone buildings are a testament to the region’s rich heritage and are reminders of the area’s historical importance. Once you reach Naranaga, you will complete your adventure with the Kashmir Mahasarovar trek. Take some time to reflect on amazing experiences, natural wonders, and personal adventures along the way. By Air: Srinagar International Airport is the nearest airport to Srinagar. Regular flights operate from key Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai, to Srinagar. To reach the city center from the airport, you can either arrange a pre-booked transfer or flag down a taxi.

By Road: A well-maintained network of roadways connects Srinagar to a number of towns in North India. You have the option of taking a bus or renting a private car or cab from adjacent cities like Chandigarh, Jammu, or Delhi. Traveling to Srinagar entails passing through stunning valleys and mountain passes and provides breathtaking views of the Himalayan scenery.
By Train: Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is situated in Jammu City, is the closest significant railway station to Srinagar. To go to Srinagar from Jammu, you can take a shared taxi or rent a car. Cancellation policy

We understand that planning an outdoor trip brings a lot of excitement and joy. However, we also know that cancellations can be disappointing. While Trekos rarely cancels treks due to our efficient ground operations, cancellations can happen due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, government regulations, or any other factors beyond our control. In such cases, the following cancellation policy will be applicable.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, we recommend making your booking at least two months in advance. If you do need to cancel your trek, please inform us in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive written advice.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

We have designed a cancellation policy that is fair, feasible, and convenient for all our customers. The procedure is as follows:

  • If you cancel your trek 21 or more days before the start date, we will deduct 10% towards GST and transaction charges and refund 90% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 15-20 days before the start date, we will deduct 30% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at base, ration, etc., and refund 70% as a trek voucher valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 7-14 days before the start date, we will deduct 50% towards GST, transaction, accommodation at the base, ration, trek leaders, permits, equipment, etc., and refund 50% as a trek voucher that is valid for 1 year.
  • If you cancel your trek 1-6 days before the start date, we will deduct 100% as all arrangements have been made, and we are ready to take you on the trek.
